Where is the leasing office?
North Hall’s leasing office is located at 170 Lafayette Street, Bridgeport CT 06604. We are located at the corner of Lafayette Street and University Ave, across from Bodine Hall on the University of Bridgeport campus. You can also fill out an application online if you’d prefer to submit one before visiting our office.
What hours is the office open?
The leasing office for North Hall is currently open from 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. Monday through Friday Eastern Standard Time (EST).
Where is North Hall located?
North Hall is located between Bodine Residence Hall on University Ave and the soccer field on Lafayette Street. Our property is one block from the academic buildings on campus and can be reached by taking Lafayette Street and turn right on University Ave for parking. North Hall will be on your right.
When can I move in?
Housing Licenses for the 2008 fall semester start on August 20, 2008.
What does “fully furnished” mean?
North Hall provides the following furniture in each bedroom: bed, mattress, closet, dresser, desk and chair.
What is an individual lease?
North Hall housing agreements are for each person in a room, not the room as a whole. This means you don’t have to worry about being held responsible for your roommate’s rent if they don’t pay.
If I don’t have a roommate in mind, what happens?
Don’t worry; you aren’t the only one who may not have a roommate in mind. The North Hall staff has a system for matching students together on various personality traits and interests. We’ll do the work to find you someone to live with.
What size are the beds?
The beds at North Hall are extra long twin-size beds. You’ll want to plan your bedding accessories accordingly.
Are the rooms carpeted?
Some carpeted rooms are available in North Hall. All other rooms in the residence halls are uncarpeted. Students who wish to have carpeted rooms must bring their own carpets.
Where are the laundry facilities?
Each floor is equipped with a washer and dryer for student use. Students are allowed free access to the laundry machines after purchasing a $5 laundry card at the beginning of the year.
Will I get cable television in my room?
All rooms are equipped with a free cable television connection, but you will need to bring your own television.
May I bring a computer?
Yes. All buildings have internet connections. All residence rooms are equipped with one Ethernet connection to the campus computer network per person. We recommend that residents buy an Ethernet LAN Card, which should be 16-bit, Novell NE 2000-Compatible.
What type of lighting is provided in the rooms?
All rooms have fluorescent ceiling fixtures and vanities with lights mounted to the top. Halogen lamps are not permitted in the building.
Is a university meal plan required?
No, North Hall does not require students to participate in the university offered meal plans, however the commuter meal plan is strongly suggested for those students who do not wish to cook in the community kitchens or find it more convenient to purchase prepared meals at Marina Dining Hall or Knight’s End Café.
May I bring a car to campus?
Yes. Students may obtain a campus parking permit from Campus Security.
What are the bathrooms like?
Rooms are not equipped with their own bathrooms. Shared, single-sex bathrooms are located on every floor. There are at least three showers, toilets, and sinks in every restroom. There are shower curtains and tall doors that separate the individually partitioned showers. The restrooms are cleaned daily.
Are coffee pots, hot plates, or toasters allowed?
Appliances with exposed heating elements are not allowed in the residence hall rooms.
May students bring their own microwaves or refrigerators?
Students are not allowed to bring their own microwaves or refrigerators. Instead, every room is equipped with one MicroFridge, a small microwave, freezer and refrigerator combination. Shared kitchen facilities are also available in all the residence halls.
Does North Hall have an elevator?
North Hall, a four-story building, has one freight elevator. Students may use this freight elevator for moving in and out of the residence halls, for special medical needs, or for other approved usages.
Is there housing for married students?
No.
Is there storage space in the residence halls?
No.
Are pets allowed?
No.
What is a Community Assistant?
A Community Assistant (CA) is a student staff member who lives at North Hall and serves as a resource for residents, including providing resources, planning events and activities, answering questions, and being available to provide excellent customer service to residents. Each floor of North Hall has a CA who can be utilized as a resource person.
Are there any activities available for residents?
Yes! Let your CA know what you’d like to see! (Movie nights, study groups, resume workshops, etc).
